BICYCLE

Ara R access from Sumida-ku

The Ara-gawa bicycle trail runs for many kilometers from Tokyo Bay to Saitama-ken. Here is one not so simple way to access it from Sumida-ku. There are other ways to get to the trail!

Sumida R northbound

Northbound bicycle ride along the pleasant path on the Taito-ku side of Sumida River (west side).

Sumida R southbound

Southbound bicycle ride along the pleasant path on the Taito-ku side of Sumida River (west side).

Asakusa

Bicycle ride around Asakusa station area in Taito-ku, then across the Sumida River to Sumida-ku City Office. (Nov 14)

Hinode Pier

Bicycle ride through Hinode Pier parking lot and then north a little, in Minato-ku. (Nov 2014)

Hinode Pier is the "water bus" terminal located about a 10-15 min walk from HamamatsuCho station. (Not Shinagawa station as I incorrectly state in this video clip.) The pier parking lot is typically full of tourist buses.

Under Shuto #7 Expressway

Bicycle ride below Shuto Expressway #7 in Koto-ku, westbound between Yokojukken-gawa and Kyunaka-gawa. (Nov 2014)

Yokojikken R

Bicycle ride in Koto-ku along the northern part of Yokojikken-gawa. (Nov 2014)

Yokojikken-gawa is a north/south canal flowing on the west side of Sumida-ku and through Koto-ku, eventually linking to Tokyo Bay. For most of its 4-5 km length Yokojikken-gawa offers a pleasant walking and bicycling path.

Shinsui-koen southbound

Bicycle ride in Sumida-ku along Oyokogawa-shinsui-koen from Oshiage station (Tobu, Asakusa, Keisei, and Hanzomon lines) and Skytree area south toward Kinshicho station (Sobu lines) area. (Oct 2014)

Shinsui-koen northbound

Bicycle ride in Sumida-ku along Oyokogawa-shinsui-koen from Kinshicho station (Sobu lines) area north toward Oshiage station (Tobu, Asakusa, Keisei, and Hanzomon lines) and Skytree. (Oct 2014)
